Wild Heart Lisa: Inside the Digital Nomad Lifestyle

Some stories don’t begin with a dramatic turning point. They start quietly — with a feeling you can’t name, a restlessness you can’t ignore, and a whisper that keeps telling you life could be something more.

Lisa knows that whisper well.

Today, she embodies a digital nomad lifestyle that blends freedom, purpose, and deep personal transformation — but the path that led her here wasn’t obvious, linear, or even intentional at first. It unfolded step by step, continent after continent, choice after choice… until a completely new version of herself emerged.

In this interview, she opens up about the fears she had to face, the mindset shifts that changed everything, and the vision behind Wild Heart Lisa. If you’ve ever wondered what it truly takes to build freedom from the inside out, her journey might be exactly the spark you’ve been looking for.

Inside the Digital Nomad Lifestyle: An Interview with Lisa

Tell us about your journey. Where do you come from, how did you discover the digital-nomad world, and what inspired the vision behind “Wild Heart”?

My name is Lisa, and I’m a simple girl born and raised in a small village in the countryside of Reggio Emilia. My story—or rather, my transformation—began in Milan, where I moved for university, where I later found a permanent job, got married, and bought a home. On paper, I had what many would call a “perfect” life.

Unfortunately, the city quickly began to feel too tight. Spending my days confined inside an office made me feel suffocated. Knowing that my life was basically set until retirement gave me overwhelming anxiety.

On top of that, a desire to escape, to explore the world, was slowly growing inside me. Those four weeks of vacation per year never felt enough.

So my husband and I decided to give everything up. We rented out our apartment, left our jobs, and set off to travel the world on a motorcycle—no deadlines, no return date. We wanted to be free from every obligation, free to live day by day, following the flow of events.
So in June 2017, we left for our first big stop, North Cape, and then continued east toward Asia, a part of the world we had never seen before.

We left with many fears, many prejudices about distant and unfamiliar countries, and a lot of insecurities.
Personally, I still didn’t know that this was only the beginning of my rebirth.

After many months of traveling, we reached Bali, where for the first time I met digital nomads. I still remember how badly I wanted to be one of them—to have the freedom to travel full-time while being able to work from anywhere in the world.

Wild Heart Lisa would be born only a couple of years later.

The motorcycle world tour ended in Australia—along with the end of my relationship. That’s where a new chapter of my life began: alone, starting from zero. Back in a routine and working a normal job like many backpackers in Australia, I realized I wanted more from life. I wanted to keep traveling, because traveling, for me, is life.

So I started searching for online jobs and eventually found “Become the Change,” a community of young entrepreneurs promoting values such as freedom and sustainability, collaborating with a Japanese company, and aiming to educate people and show them an alternative way of living and working.

Wild Heart Lisa was born to help people—people like the old me, who felt trapped—create their own freedom through alternative work. My main goal is to educate, inform, and inspire people to believe in themselves and in the possibility of succeeding outside the traditional path, while promoting a lifestyle that is more ethical, healthy, and sustainable.

You built a business helping people become digital nomads through affiliate marketing and high-ticket network marketing. What was the turning point when you knew this was your path to freedom?

When I first started researching and looking for online work, I remember I was willing to do anything. I had no idea where to start or what to do. I thought anything would be fine, as long as it allowed me to work online and travel full-time.

But when I discovered Become the Change and the company I now collaborate with, I realized I was exactly in the right place. What I had found was: a solid and sustainable company, an ethical business model, a very generous compensation plan, high-quality products that help reduce plastic waste and improve our health, and a community that has become like a second family to me.

What are the most common misconceptions about becoming a digital nomad? And how do you help people face the less “glamorous” side of this lifestyle?

Many people still see digital nomads as “influencers” or “content creators,” but being a digital nomad is much more than that. Many people I talk to think that working online is easy and doesn’t require much effort or dedication. In reality, I believe the opposite: working online—and working for yourself—is often harder than being an employee. It requires much more self-discipline, commitment, flexibility, and determination. But all of that also brings much more freedom.

One of the greatest aspects of working in network marketing is having a supportive community. Being surrounded by people who are on the same path is incredibly helpful. There’s accountability—sharing small weekly goals, joining support calls, encouraging each other, plus a lot of mindset and personal-growth work. This helps tremendously when it comes to facing your fears, challenges, and limiting beliefs.

As an entrepreneur constantly on the move, how do you find balance between work, travel, and personal growth in your daily life?

The way I travel today is very different from how I traveled in the beginning. Now I travel much more slowly. It’s not always easy to balance the desire to explore with the time you need to dedicate to your business.

Generally, I try to carve out time every morning—when my mind is fresh—for business activities. Then I dedicate the rest of the day to exploring and enjoying the new place I’m visiting. At the end of the day, I set aside another moment to reply to messages, talk with my team and leads, and create some content.

Are there destinations or experiences that deeply impacted you during your travels? How did they influence your mindset or the way you run your business?

Absolutely—Asia. Asia changed me completely. Traveling through Central and Southeast Asia shattered many of my prejudices and limiting beliefs. Asia taught me humility, gratitude, hospitality, and the value of sharing. It taught me to trust strangers and believe more in humanity. In many ways, Asia opened my heart and my mind.
And as I mentioned earlier, Bali played a major role in shaping my vision for a future as a digital nomad.

In the world of affiliate and network marketing, what practices or mindset shifts do you believe are essential for long-term success?

The first thing that comes to mind is: stop thinking like an employee. We’re used to having a boss—someone who tells us every day what to do and how much to work. In network and affiliate marketing, we become our own bosses.

One of the first things you must develop is self-discipline and the ability to work independently. People who succeed in this field are those who let themselves be guided by those with more experience, who take action despite their fears, who step out of their comfort zone, who treat this as a real job, and who can work independently even without someone constantly checking on them.

How do you build authentic connections with your audience and clients, considering your work is so flexible and spread across the world?

I try to be as authentic as possible. I don’t want my social media to be a showcase of perfect posts or influencer-style content. I want my social media to reflect who I am—with my strengths and flaws, with my highs and lows. I always try to express my true self.

Most connections happen behind the scenes—through conversations, calls, and community.

I used to try to be friends with everyone; now I let people who resonate with my energy and values come to me. And of course, when I travel, if I happen to be near any of my contacts, I always try to organize a meet-up.

Human connections will never be replaced by digital ones, no matter how beautiful and powerful the digital world can be.

Looking ahead, what are your goals for Wild Heart Lisa? What new adventures, business models, or personal challenges excite you the most?

My vision for the future is to keep growing my Italian digital-nomad community—to keep connecting with people who share values like freedom and sustainability, people who believe in a better future and a healthier planet.

Alongside my network-marketing work, I’d also love to create additional side projects to support local communities—most likely in Asia.
