Joy of Nutrition: The Raw Living Revolution Behind Personalised Nutrition and Holistic Health

What if everything you thought you knew about health was only part of the story?
Imagine letting go of conventional “wellness rules” and discovering a path where healing begins not with prescriptions or protein counts, but with fruit, faith, and radical self-awareness.
In this eye-opening interview, Annie and Leigh-Joy—the mother-daughter duo behind Joy of Nutrition—share their extraordinary journey from a traditional British lifestyle to becoming raw food pioneers, living guides, and iridologists. Their story is not just about nutrition; it’s about transformation, simplicity, and the quiet power of reconnecting with nature.

Their unique focus on personalised nutrition and raw living creates a powerful alternative to one-size-fits-all health advice.
Read on to discover how Joy of Nutrition is rewriting the rules of health, one raw bite at a time.
1) Could you share your personal journey and what inspired you to establish Joy of Nutrition?
Our story sounds good on paper—a family from Yorkshire, thriving in the countryside, raised in a village where our playground was the community pavilion, woods, and fields. But when you look deeper, we were on a treadmill, blind and submissive to the social system. We ate a standard diet with so-called “healthy proteins and fats,” we had health complications, yet we followed the rules, imprisoned by time and corporate work. And then, the entire world changed.
In 2020, we all experienced something together. Some were victims of a broken order, while others were liberated by the opportunity for change. We feel blessed to be the latter. With faith, we began exploring alternative medicinal modalities and discovered not just an answer, but life itself—a new world. We found that there is a path to abundant health that doesn’t involve invasive practices or remedies. Most importantly, it requires no dependency.
We see—and have experienced—this as a return to nature. As a species, we have a specific way to function, and we’ve learned and embodied this law for five years. A high-raw fruit / natural hygiene lifestyle is not only physically healing; it is a journey of reclaiming oneself. It’s conscious living.
My life truly began when I stopped resisting. I allowed the most undesirable truths into my heart—truths that ultimately gave me the ability to meet myself. So, I am Annie. My mother is Leigh-Joy, and together we are The Joy of Nutrition. We specialise in raw plant-based artisan foods and nutrition. We are living guides and trained iridologists.
2) Your platform emphasises the importance of artisan foods and personalised nutrition. How do you approach creating individualised nutrition plans for your clients?
Our entire business initiative is to guide others toward a healthier lifestyle that supports their overall well-being. This includes respecting the way our clients wish to live. We create plant-based alternatives to replace foods that contribute to health complications and are simply unsuitable for the body.
Our Living Guidance is completely individualised. We ask clients to complete an in-depth health questionnaire to learn about their genetic background, past and present health concerns. We conduct an iridology reading to gain a deeper understanding of where detoxification should begin for a safe and controlled cleanse. Alongside this, we gather insights into their daily living, personal habits, and routines. With all of this information, a clear picture forms, and we can determine the steps needed to move forward.
The food we make is tailored to each client. The ingredients we use in all our foods are natural, organic, non-GMO, preservative-free, ethically and sustainably sourced. Everything is in its raw form and crafted into artisan, hand-made food.
3) As a nutritionist, what common misconceptions do people have about healthy eating, and how do you address them?
The top three concerns we hear are cost, time, and protein. We share both our personal experience and scientific knowledge to address these concerns. This journey is about cleansing the body, and we realised we no longer needed to spend on things like toothpaste (fluoride), body wash (no odour), laundry detergent (fragrance), microwaves or ovens (cooked food). I could go on—but ultimately, these conventional “essentials” cost a lot. Instead, we invest in species-specific food.
Time is a matter of prioritisation and organisation. I prioritise batch-preparing food, making a fresh salad each day, and grazing on fruit and raw snacks between meals. Personally, I’ve placed my health above everything else, and with good organisation, I still have plenty of time in my day. The modern age promotes convenience—fast food, easy payments, seamless experiences—but that convenience often creates a disconnect from the present moment.
When working with clients, we provide an in-depth scientific understanding of how the body functions and what it truly needs to operate in harmony. This includes clear explanations of how protein works, where we source it, and how a plant-based lifestyle supports natural production.
Our business is a solution—it bridges a gap and gives people identity, self-worth, and responsibility over their own health. It is a service to the soul. We provide the guidance and tools to maintain balance in body, mind, and spirit.
4) You offer a range of products and services through your website. Could you elaborate on these offerings and how they support individuals in achieving their health goals?
The Joy of Nutrition serves as an umbrella for various ways we help people connect to a healthier lifestyle through personalised nutrition, holistic practices, and community collaboration. Our Living Guidance is a one-on-one experience focused on deep healing. Iridology supports this and also serves as a gateway for those who want a generalised full-body health analysis. We offer protocols based on the pillars of wellness and guidance on how to attain longevity through habitual holistic practices.
Our product shop allows people across the UK to access our continually evolving range of foods.
But our biggest passion is community. We’ve partnered with local non-profits and small businesses that share our values and mission. This passion for change begins with local groups that aim to protect, preserve, and honour what we have—our organic food supply, clean water, and nature. We’re building a self-sustained network, healed through humility.
All of these branches of connection make our brand accessible and help people reach their goals.
5) How do you stay updated with the latest nutritional research, and how does this influence your practice?
Our approach is grounded in timeless nutritional wisdom. There is no “re-searching.” This foundational understanding is the essence of our business model. The human anatomy is fixed; it has specific functions and capabilities. At our core, we believe that “only the body heals the body.” This simple principle means that any external intervention meant to change the body’s inner terrain is inherently harmful.
That said, we do acknowledge that the external environment affects overall health. In certain cases, having updated nutritional knowledge is helpful. We consult multiple sources, seek a wide range of reports, and reinforce them with textbook-level understanding.
6) In your experience, what role does mindset play in achieving and maintaining a healthy lifestyle, and how do you incorporate this into your coaching?
This is one of the most important and liberating understandings: the mind is symbiotic with health. You are what you eat. The mind sits atop the gastrointestinal tract—whatever is active in the gut is feeding the mind. This lifestyle brings the body into a state of homeostasis.
Beginning this journey requires discipline. The mind must be in order and ready to face obstacles and challenges. But once the first steps are taken with awareness and intention, everything begins to align. Discipline becomes second nature, and challenges become opportunities for growth.
The mind is incredibly complex, yet beautifully simple.
This philosophy is reflected in how we teach and explain human anatomy. We answer questions with scientific clarity, sharing how the mind functions, the chemicals it requires, and how we can naturally encourage their production to maintain balance.
We’ve witnessed true transformations—clients changing their outlook on life, finding motivation, rebuilding relationships, and recognising their self-worth. Those who embrace this lifestyle are naturally guided toward love, confidence, and service. These core values can take many forms, but they ultimately lead to change and personal growth.
7) Could you share a success story from one of your clients that highlights the impact of personalised nutrition?
We’ve worked with people at many levels and seen a wide range of health concerns. When individuals fully embrace this lifestyle with conviction, the results are incredibly powerful. It’s important to understand that this isn’t a temporary “treatment.” It’s about recognising and honouring the body’s natural design.
Most of our success stories follow a similar pattern. The health issues we see are common, and we understand that disease is simply a state of imbalance. The names given to conditions are irrelevant—what matters is the body’s internal environment. When that environment is cleaned and reset, the body gains the space and time it needs to heal.
Detoxification is often the hardest part for clients. It’s difficult to stay focused and disciplined while the body eliminates disease. These periods can be physically, mentally, and emotionally challenging.
But those who stay the course don’t just heal their illnesses—they rebuild broken relationships, save marriages, regain self-worth, reclaim their lives, start new businesses, lose unhealthy weight, reverse menopause, restore hair health, and overcome mental health challenges. Most importantly, they share their journeys. They become the change they wish to see. That is the work of a humble servant—spreading love and helping others become their best selves. That’s the essence of true nourishment.
8) Looking ahead, what are your future aspirations for Joy of Nutrition, and how do you plan to continue advocating for personalised and holistic approaches to health?
The future holds great promise for sustainable living and holistic health. Joy of Nutrition is part of a movement that is reshaping the way society functions. Our clients and partners are taking meaningful actions that benefit the planet—ecologically, environmentally, agriculturally, and even politically. What many view as chaos, we see as a call to reclaim autonomy and create a self-reliant, sustainable future. For too long, society has been subdued by systems that are chaotic and harmful.
So how do we change a broken, overworked system? We plan to partner with organisations to connect organic produce across England, supporting local farmers, small businesses, and community health. The chemicals used on supermarket produce are toxic and unacceptable.
We’re working with a Dry Blood Analysis Specialist to offer non-invasive, in-depth health assessments that report on the true condition of the inner terrain. We work with people, for people.
We’re also collaborating with our local council to raise awareness about holistic approaches and sustainable eating. This will help connect more people in our community to a supportive network of individuals committed to health and healing.
We’ve hosted retreats and community events that bring self-realisation and food into harmony for a transformative experience. Our intimate retreats feature guided breathwork and mindfulness sessions, led by skilled facilitators, alongside nourishing plant-based menus.
Our facility is expanding, allowing us to make more of our products available across the UK. Accessibility is crucial. We receive many inquiries, and when we can’t fulfil them, we adapt our business model to meet demand.
In Yorkshire, throughout spring and summer, you’ll find The Joy of Nutrition stall at makers markets—spreading health and good news!
We’ll continue to deepen our understanding of the fascinating human body—how it works, how it thrives, and how it deserves to be respected. These last five years have been the journey of a lifetime… and we’re only just beginning.
