R.L. Malpica Natural Health Coach Interview

1) Could you start by introducing yourself? Tell us who you are, where you’re from, what you do as a health coach, and how long you’ve been living a plant-based lifestyle.

My name is R.L. Malpica, also known as The E.A.T. Coach. I’m a Natural Health and Diet Coach. I’m originally from Cleveland, Ohio, but I’ve been living in the North Dallas area of Texas for the past 30 years. I’ve been following a plant-based lifestyle for roughly eight years and have been primarily raw vegan/fruitarian for the past three.

I help people transition to a healthier diet by using raw whole foods as the gold standard. After a quick consultation, I assess where they are on their health journey and create a gradual plan tailored to their goals, based on my E.A.T. Philosophy. E.A.T. stands for Energy Efficiency, Avoid Acid-Forming Foods & Toxicity.

I also run a YouTube channel called The E.A.T. Coach, where I share educational videos on natural health and diet, along with my personal journey to wellness.

2) What inspired you to start this dietary and health journey? Was there a particular moment or event that motivated your decision?

The pandemic inspired me to look at health from an entirely different perspective. When governments and other outside entities try to control your health decisions, it becomes crucial to understand what’s truly going on with your body.

I’ve always been a truth-seeker and someone who questions everything. Once the pandemic hit, I began researching how the body works and discovered numerous resources on natural hygiene, natural health, and the terrain model. It all just clicked for me—and from that point on, it became my passion.

3) Were there any foods or habits that were particularly challenging for you to eliminate or change? How did you overcome those challenges?

Eliminating cooked food from my diet was by far the most challenging part. Right now, I eat about 90% raw whole foods and 10% cooked food. Transitioning to a mostly raw diet was extremely difficult, mainly because society doesn’t make it easy.

The world has been conditioned to think of food in a cooked context. What helped me was taking incremental steps and giving myself grace throughout the process.

4) Do you think there are still misconceptions or stereotypes about plant-based diets? How do you address these when working with clients?

Absolutely. We live in the Information Age, where you can find support for just about any argument. I use my YouTube platform and podcast to address many of the common misconceptions around plant-based eating.

5) For those concerned about balance, how do you ensure your diet includes all the necessary nutrients? Could you give an example of a typical day’s meals?

The entire concept of “getting enough nutrition” is based on a standard diet that actually lacks nutrition. Because of that, the media, corporations, and profit-driven entities have convinced people that they need supplements to fill the gap.

The truth is, all the nutrition—vitamins and minerals—we need exists within the plant kingdom. When you eat a natural diet consisting of raw whole fruits, veggie fruits, leafy greens, nuts, and seeds, you get everything your body needs to thrive—as long as you’re eating enough.
A typical day’s meals for me look like this:

  • I break my fast at noon with 6–8 bananas.
  • Two to three hours later, I have a fruit bowl with 3 apples and 3 oranges.
  • About an hour after that, I eat a pound of romaine lettuce with cucumbers and ½ cup of walnuts.

6) Beyond your diet, has adopting a plant-based lifestyle influenced other aspects of your life? For example, your views on sustainability, environmental care, or even self-care routines?

Definitely. My original reason for going plant-based was spiritual and ethical. Getting healthier was just a bonus.

I follow the principles of natural hygiene, which means it’s more than just the diet. It includes things like not using soap, drinking clean water, no Wi-Fi in my house, no wireless earbuds, and avoiding toxic relationships.

Everything matters. Health is a lifestyle.

7) How do you guide clients who are skeptical or hesitant to transition to a plant-based diet? What’s your approach to helping them make sustainable changes?

I keep everything simple and straightforward. In my eBook The Natural Reset, I outline an eight-week plan that introduces one new habit each week to help build a foundation naturally.
If you give someone one thing to change, they’re likely to succeed about 75% of the time. Add a second change, and that number drops to around 21%.

It’s about taking incremental steps, adjusting gradually, and developing awareness around the changes your body will experience. I meet my clients exactly where they are in their current health journey.

8) What role does mindset play in maintaining a healthy lifestyle? Do you incorporate mindfulness, stress management, or other holistic practices in your coaching?

Your mind can be your biggest enemy. Mindfulness is key, and it’s a huge part of my coaching. Control the mind, control the results.

We’ve all been conditioned to view health from an unhealthy lens. It takes serious mental rewiring to make lasting changes.

9) How do you tailor your dietary advice for clients with specific needs or goals? Could you give an example of how you’ve helped someone achieve a significant health milestone?

Each client fills out a detailed questionnaire to give me a clear picture of their goals, current habits, lifestyle, and diet. From there, I build a personalized plan and maintain ongoing communication.

One client came to me after having their gallbladder removed. They needed to make changes and lose weight. I designed a custom plan, and they ended up losing over 20 pounds, added more raw foods to their diet, and are now on a path to a much healthier life.

10) What do you see as the future of natural health and plant-based living? Do you think it’s becoming more mainstream, and what are the benefits of this shift?

I’m an optimist, so I believe natural health will continue to grow year by year. Technology has made it easier to share this information, and more people are becoming open-minded.

I doubt it will ever be truly mainstream—mainstream is controlled by powerful interests—but the light will always find a way to shine through.

11) What advice would you give to someone curious about starting a plant-based diet? Any tips for beginners to stay motivated and enjoy the journey?

My advice would be: Start small, stay patient, and give yourself grace. Use your intuition and listen to your body—it will guide you on the right path.
Focus on the journey, not the goal.
